At Hansells, we are pleased to announce that Mark Scott has been appointed as a Specialist Member to the National Panel of Sport Resolutions, a prominent UK-based independent dispute resolution service for sports operating globally and offering arbitration, mediation, tribunal, and investigation services.  Appointments to the panel follow a competitive selection process, and candidates must demonstrate expertise in the sports sector.

The organisation has played a key role in several high-profile and significant cases, including, most recently, UK Anti-Doping v Victoria Ohuruogu.  Mark’s tenure is for a three-year period, during which he will be involved in matters ranging from safeguarding, disciplinary, athlete selection, eligibility and other regulatory hearings, reviews, investigations, and sports’ tribunals.

the skills, knowledge and experience required to ensure that Sports Resolutions’ services can be expertly administered and determined.  This appointment reinforces Mark’s expertise and knowledge in sports law, disputes, and tribunals.  He has experience in cases concerning misconduct allegations, including improper conduct, threatening behaviour, violent conduct, foul and abusive language, discrimination, and rule breaches involving club officials and spectator behaviour.

Commentating on the appointment, Mark, who is also a Director at the Norfolk Cricket Board, a member of Paddle UK’s (formerly British Canoeing) Disciplinary, Dispute, and Appeal Panel, and both a Regional and National Serious Case Panel Member to the Football Association, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I am delighted with this news.  I very much share the Sport Resolutions’ vision, and as a member of its National Panel, it will mean I will be considered for a range of appointments matching my expertise in the sports discipline sector.”
