Hansells Solicitors story begins in 1827 when Henry Hansell and Gardiner Chapman founded their partnership in The Close, Norwich.

The Practice grew over the following decades establishing itself as a leading name in the region.

In 1971 Hansells merged with Stevenson and Co, another firm with its roots in nineteenth century Norwich, becoming Hansell Stevenson. We continued to develop our client portfolio across the city and county, and in 1987 the partners of Blyth and Robinson brought their experience and solid reputations into the firm.

The 1990’s saw further expansions with Hansells taking over Ian Forman & Co, Purdy & Co, J A Rosser & Co, and Edward Bell & Co. In 2001 the Norwich and Cromer firm of Emmett and Tacon also joined Hansell Stevenson.

A year later, we became Hansells and brought in five Norwich partners and their support teams from national law firm, Eversheds.

In 2007, Hansells took over Canada House based in North Walsham and June 2014 Hansells acquired legal firm Jennifer Easter Limited, situated in one of East Anglia’s historic market towns, Wymondham.

Today Hansells has over 80 staff and partners, working from five regional centres in Norwich, Aylsham, Cromer, North Walsham and Wymondham.

Our head office is located at Tombland, Norwich. We never stop developing and improving our services to ensure we meet the ever changing needs of our personal and corporate clients.
