Mark Scott

Mark Scott is a Legal Director and Head of Dispute Resolution at Hansells Solicitors, with over 25 years’ experience advising on civil, commercial and regulatory disputes.

He acts for individuals, businesses, sporting bodies and participants, helping clients deal with disputes in a practical and proportionate way. His work often focuses on resolving issues at an early and sensible stage, while providing firm representation where matters need to be pursued or defended.

Mark advises on a broad range of contentious matters, including commercial and contractual disputes, insurance coverage issues, property and land disputes (such as rights of way, easements and boundary matters), probate and inheritance claims, and bankruptcy and insolvency. He also has a significant regulatory and disciplinary practice within the sports sector, acting for governing bodies, clubs, athletes and coaches.

His sports work includes advising on disciplinary and regulatory proceedings involving alleged misconduct, safeguarding concerns and interim measures. These cases frequently involve sensitive issues and time‑critical decisions, requiring careful handling and clear advice throughout the process.

Mark holds a number of national appointments, including Chair of the FA National Serious Case Panel, Chair of the England Golf Disciplinary and Appeal Panel, and a member of Paddle UK’s Appeal and Disciplinary Panel. He is also a Director and Trustee of the Norfolk Cricket Foundation and Chair of its Cricket Discipline Panel.

Mark is also a CEDR Accredited Mediator.
