When you have had a road traffic accidents involving animals, or a sudden swerve to avoid, an animal on the road it can lead to serious injury.

Drivers who encounter animals such as horses, sheep, cows, and dogs on the road will usually try to take evasive action to avoid a collision.  Such action can sometimes lead to a road traffic accident resulting in personal injury to you, your passengers and even a third party.

If the animal is on the road and has escaped from its owner or a nearby enclosure and has caused a collision with your vehicle, you may be able to claim compensation.

In respect of a collision with livestock, where it can be shown that the livestock’s owner/farmer has failed to maintain the area where the animals are kept and they escape, they will be liable for any road traffic accidents that occur as a result.

Pet owners also have a responsibility to ensure their animals do not escape on to the public highway.  If this does happen and a car accident occurs and the owner is found to be liable any compensation is covered under the home or pet insurance.

If you or somebody you know has been injured in this way, Hansells may be able to deal with your claim on “No Win No Fee” basis.
