Tackling Poor Behavior in Grassroots Football: Hansells Supports Norfolk FA’s Respect Programme

Respect is the foundation of grassroots football. When players, coaches, parents, spectators and match officials treat one another with consideration and fairness, everyone benefits. That's why Hansells Solicitors is proud to support the Norfolk County FA Respect Programme, an initiative designed to promote positive behaviour and tackle poor conduct across grassroots football in Norfolk.

As a long-established Norfolk law firm with offices in Norwich, Aylsham and North Walsham, we're committed to supporting the communities we serve. Our partnership with Norfolk County FA reflects that commitment and our belief that sport has an important role to play in developing positive values, particularly among young people.

What is the Norfolk County FA Respect Programme?

The Norfolk County FA Respect Programme celebrates the individuals, teams and clubs that embody the very best of grassroots football. Rather than focusing solely on disciplinary issues and poor behaviour, the programme recognises and rewards those who demonstrate sportsmanship, fair play and respect both on and off the pitch.

At the heart of the initiative are a series of Respect Awards, which shine a spotlight on clubs and teams that create positive environments for players, volunteers and supporters.

The programme forms part of Norfolk FA's wider commitment to ensuring grassroots football remains enjoyable, inclusive and welcoming for everyone involved.

Why Respect Matters in Grassroots Football

Grassroots football relies on the dedication of volunteers, coaches, referees and families. Unfortunately, poor behaviour can have a damaging impact on the game, affecting participation levels, referee retention and the overall experience for young players.

By encouraging positive conduct and recognising those who lead by example, the Respect Programme helps to create an environment where players can develop their skills, build confidence and enjoy the game.

These values align closely with those of Hansells Solicitors. We believe in treating people fairly, acting with integrity and contributing positively to the communities in which we live and work.

Hansells' Partnership with Norfolk County FA

Hansells entered into a sponsorship agreement with Norfolk County FA at the start of the 2025/26 season. Supporting grassroots football in Norfolk was a natural fit for the firm, given our long-standing connection to the county and our commitment to community engagement.

Having served Norfolk for nearly 200 years, we understand the importance of investing in local initiatives that make a meaningful difference. Supporting young people and encouraging positive behaviour are causes that resonate strongly with everyone at Hansells.

The Respect Programme provides an excellent opportunity to champion these values while helping Norfolk football continue to thrive.

Celebrating the First Respect Award Winners

We were delighted to see Mulbarton Wanderers U13 Belles become the first recipients of a Norfolk County FA Respect Award.

The team was presented with a new kit featuring the Hansells name, recognising their commitment to the values of respect, fair play and positive behaviour.

Congratulations to the players, coaches and families involved. Their attitude and dedication set a fantastic example for others across grassroots football in Norfolk.

Recognition on the National Stage

The success of the Respect Programme has already received wider recognition. We are proud to announce that the Norfolk County FA Respect Programme, supported by Hansells Solicitors, has been shortlisted for a County FA Recognition Award in the Tackle Poor Behaviour category.

The annual County FA Recognition Awards celebrate the outstanding work taking place across the County FA network, recognising initiatives that make a genuine difference to grassroots football.

Norfolk County FA has been shortlisted in three categories this year, highlighting the excellent work being carried out across the county. To see the Respect Programme recognised so early in our partnership is particularly rewarding.

Supporting Norfolk Communities Through Sport

At Hansells, we believe that strong communities are built on positive relationships, shared values and mutual respect. Grassroots sport plays a vital role in bringing people together and creating opportunities for young people to grow and succeed.

We look forward to seeing more teams, clubs and individuals recognised through the Respect Programme throughout the season.

Our thanks go to Norfolk County FA and to the countless volunteers, coaches, referees, parents and players who work so hard to make grassroots football in Norfolk a positive, inclusive and enjoyable experience for all.
