After a great start to the new year, we now find ourselves in Family Mediation Week. Family Mediation Week is a great opportunity to raise awareness of mediation for separating families and the many benefits it can bring to both children’s arrangements and financial settlements.

January is well known in family law as being the divorce month. It is thought that this is due to the stress of the Christmas period, and of course, with the Covid-19 pandemic and prolonged periods of lockdown, the strain on relationships and marriages has only increased.

Mediation offers the parties involved the opportunity to discuss their issues, away from lawyers, away from the Courts in a neutral setting, giving each family the chance to make fulfilling, long-term solutions, which can thereafter be drafted into a legal binding order.

Separation for families can be a stressful time for all those involved. Here at Hansells, we are proud to promote the use of mediation as a way forward to avoid lengthy, and potentially costly Court battles.

The Family Mediation Council have a great list of programmes and events lined up this week to mark Family Mediation Week for both families and aspiring professionals which can be found at https://www.familymediationcouncil.org.uk/fmw/full-programme-of-events/.

At Hansells Solicitors we can offer support, guidance before, during and after your mediation process. To see how we can help you, call our family team on 01603 753414.
